Governor Flies with SJPA Pilots

The July 4^th weekend marked Christine Gregoire's first visit to San Juan County as Washington Governor with SJPA members Jim Gruneisen and Jackie Hamilton at the controls. Also joining the Governor on the flight to and from Olympia was her husband Mike Gregoire (left) who is affectionately referred to as the First Gentleman.

Governor Gregoire was able to see and experience first-hand that aviation in Washington is more than just Boeing. She particularly enjoyed the aerial tour of the San Juan’s on the flight home and told Jim and Jackie she looked forward to coming back. Jim, who also lives and provides flight instruction part-time in California, got the Governor to chuckle when he told her that she and Mike were good sports for chartering one of Island Air's Cessna's, as he doubted Governor Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver traveled the same way.
